PORT Glasgow s close knit community is coming together to make sure no family goes hungry this Christmas. Local volunteers have been working closely with the Co-op in Dubbs Road to donate food for a town drop-in, as demand increases during the festive season. Staff and customers pulled off a massive collection, with the supplies now handed over to Port Glasgow Salvation Army s foodshare programme. Schoolchildren also stepped into design a poster to raise awareness of the collection, with a local competition attracting lots of entries. Volunteer Lynn Foreman said: It is bittersweet in a way - we ve had so many generous donations coming in, which is beautiful, but the demand out there is rising.
