Defense Minister Nuria Esparch and Interior Minister Jose Elice were in the principal avenues and strategic locations throughout Lima and Callao on Saturday night, supervising the control work done by law enforcement officers to verify the compliance with the mandatory social immobilization (curfew) decreed by the Government within the framework of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
As is known, the nighttime curfew in Metropolitan Lima and Callao region was brought forward to 9:00 p.m. as both areas face a high-level risk linked to a second COVID-19 wave.
Additionally, the use of private vehicles in Metropolitan Lima and Callao was restricted on Sundays. Both measures are in force until January 31.
