The misuse of parking spaces for people with a disability is an issue in many local government areas, and last month Port Stephens Council’s rangers made it a key focus.

Council’s Environmental Health and Compliance Coordinator Marc Goodall says rangers conduct blitzes throughout the year.
“During April, our rangers focused on parking spaces marked for people with a disability and those using the Mobility Parking Scheme,” Mr Goodall said.
“We allocate time to check disability parking zones and wait for the owners of vehicles parked in the zones to ensure they are using the Mobility Parking Scheme (MPS) permit correctly.
