TOMAH, Wis. (WKBT) Scott Holum has been named the new police chief of the Tomah Police Department.
The Tomah Police and Fire Commission appointed Holum, the former assistant police chief, to the position after the retirement of Mark Nicholson April 9.
Holum has been a member of the department for more than 22 years, holding positions as patrol officer, sergeant of police, lieutenant, and assistant police chief.
“Chief Scott Holum is excited to represent the Tomah Police Department and the dedicated, professional men and women who work each day for the Tomah community,” said the department in a statement. “Please welcome Scott Holum as the new City of Tomah Police Chief.”
Nicholson made the announcement on the department’s Facebook page.
“Thirty-one years ago I began my career in Tomah as a patrol officer. My intent at that time included a 5 year plan; start in Tomah, learn and absorb as much as I can from those around me, and after 5 years move on to bigger and better things. After being here for a few years I learned a few things; I didn’t want to go bigger and it was difficult to find a better community than Tomah to live in and be a part of,” Nicholson said.
Nicholson took over as chief seven years ago when previous police chief, Wes Revels now the Monroe County Sheriff retired from the position.
