Highway worker hospitalized in 2-vehilce crash, Monroe County authorities say April 26, 2021 3:45 PM Logan Rude KENDALL, Wis. A Monroe County Highway worker was hospitalized Monday morning following a two-vehicle crash, prompting law enforcement officials to remind drivers to be attentive while driving, especially in work zones. According to officials with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, a Monroe County Highway truck was hit from behind Monday morning by a semi traveling eastbound on Highway 71. The truck was the last in a row of vehicles doing maintenance work on the shoulder of the road. The driver of the highway truck was injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. The semi driver was uninjured, officials said.

Teen killed in Monroe County crash December 15, 2020 3:13 PM Site staff Updated: TOWN OF BYRON, Wis. (WKBT) A Warrens teenager died Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 21 in Monroe County. According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the town of Byron crash was reported at just after 10 a.m. at the intersection of Hwy. 21 and Crescent Road. Investigators say a 2003 Honda Civic was traveling south on Crescent Road when the driver failed to stop at the stop sign at Hwy. 21. The vehicle was struck by a 2017 Kenworth straight truck on the highway. The passenger in the Honda, a 16-year-old, died in the crash. Both drivers were evaluated for injuries and released. Due to the ongoing investigations, names and additional information are not being released at this time.

  On 12/10/20 at around 3:30 p.m. the Monroe County 911 Communication Center began receiving multiple calls reporting a vehicle that was speeding in and out of traffic, striking road signs, as well as other vehicles.   The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded and also requested assistance from the Tomah Police Department due to the severity of the traffic complaints.  Units located the vehicle as it exited the interstate near Hwy 131 south of Tomah.   Personnel from the Sheriff’s Office and Tomah PD attempted to stop the vehicle but it continued its erratic driving and fled.  The driver lost control of his vehicle on a corner on County Highway M and his vehicle went into a field, crossed a creek, and rolled.
