Andrea Doria foghorn blasts from Beach Haven, 65 years after it sank

BEACH HAVEN, N.J. - On Sunday, 65 years to the day Italian ocean liner Andrea Doria collided with Swedish ocean liner Stockholm, her long-submerged but newly restored foghorn sounded again. Its deep bellow resounded from the New Jersey Maritime Museum, where it was on display for the first time, down Dock Road so that passersby raised a curious look. Several witnesses were there the last time the horn blew, as passengers aboard the liner on that fateful night, July 25, 1956.  I was just starting to get to bed and I heard a loud bang. I knew we were docking at Italian-line pier in Manhattan in the morning and I thought maybe we hit the pier, said Corrado Sigona, who was 16 and immigrating from Sicily to join his father in Brooklyn.
