The number of crimes increased across the state last year, but Summit County was able to buck the trend and reduce the number of crimes locally, according to data collected by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. around the state earlier this year, and the numbers largely show trends moving in the wrong direction.

A Kansas man is facing felony assault and vehicular eluding charges after allegedly hitting two Frisco police officers with a car and fleeing, according to police records.
Russ Ashley, 43, was arrested last month following an ordinary traffic stop that turned violent off Frisco Main Street. Just after midnight on March 19, Frisco officers initiated a traffic stop after noticing a Ford Mustang swerve into another lane without signaling while traveling south on Colorado Highway 9. According to the report, the driver continued south on the highway at a slow speed and eventually turned onto Main Street where he pulled into an empty parking spot west of Seventh Avenue.

Despite a blanket of snow draped over Frisco’s parks, many community members are still trying to make the most of the amenities, spreading out on the frozen lawns to let their dogs run or making their way to a pond to skate.
But the town is continuing to invest in park improvements in hopes of providing an even better experience this summer as the myriad residents and visitors again make their way outside to sprawl out in the grass and climb on the playgrounds. This year, Frisco’s focus is on Meadow Creek Park.
Ice Castles officials provided an updated presentation to Dillon Town Council members during a regular meeting Jan. 5, the latest in a lengthy discussion on a proposed long-term agreement with the town. But the community remains deeply divided on whether the attraction can remain at Town Park without creating undue hardships on residents.
Pedro Campos, a landscape architect with Zehren & Associates, provided council with the most up-to-date plans, which included detailed drawings of the park for year-round use along with cost estimates for the proposal. Campos said the current proposal was heavily influenced by community feedback collected over the past year.
