John Shearer: Random Thoughts About Tom Weathers, Ralph Potter, John Lennon, Roland Hayes, Jack s And Christmas Coke Cans

John Shearer: Random Thoughts About Tom Weathers, Ralph Potter, John Lennon, Roland Hayes, Jack’s And Christmas Coke Cans Saturday, December 12, 2020 - by John Shearer Like many, I was saddened to hear about the death of former Red Bank High football coach Tom Weathers at the age of 81.    I understand he had unfortunately battled dementia-related issues in later years, but many in the community, on the other hand, have great memories of his coaching and, perhaps more importantly, the positive life skills he taught.   As a childhood member of Red Bank United Methodist Church and because my father, Dr. C. Wayne Shearer, had his optometric office in Red Bank, I was always attuned to the goings on in that community.

Randy Smith: Tom Weathers Blue Parka - Chattanoogan com

Randy Smith: Tom Weathers Blue Parka Thursday, December 10, 2020 - by Randy Smith I can still see it now. The snow swirling in the final minutes of the TSSAA State Championship Game back in 2000. The Red Bank Lions kept handing the ball to their super-stud running back Gerald Riggs Jr. to seal the Class 5-A state title. The Lions would defeat Murfreesboro Riverdale 27-7 that night, in the middle of a snowstorm 20 years ago. There is one image burned into my memory from that night that is even more vivid. That s the image of Red Bank coach Tom Weathers standing on the sidelines wearing a blue parka with the hood over his head.
