We should see cooler temperatures, and the marine layers deepening which will help things out along the fire lines. The cooldown badly needed on the Santa Cruz Mountains, where the loma fire continues to burn mostly out of control. Here is the laeest in terms of the numbers. The fires burned through 2200 acres, up to 10 containment this morning. One home and six out buildings have been destroyed. Bob redell is out there and will have an update later this morning. As we mentioned yesterday, there were a lot of reenforcements needed to get to this point today. The number of firefighters went from 350 to 500 on the front lines, bringing in tankers and choppers as they did more air drops and used more fire retardant. Several of them sent those agencies to help us as you mentioned before, it came out as a wildland. A part of this was the transition, showing up their engines, the light wildland gear. And they had to get out of that gear and into their structure gear and make an interior attack. Then the amount of resources that we didnt have enough people to make that attack right off their bat as they are trying to cool the fire until we would have enough resources for them to safely send those people inside. We had to leave the boat behind, he is a little bummed out right now. It has been a difficult and intense fire to fight in part because it is burning in steep terrain and all the vegetation is very drive from the drought it is serving as fuel for the fire. Calfire has been using 11 Fire Fighters helicopters. There is nearly 900 fire personnel. The crews will be meeting for a briefing at 7 am. Eight more damaged when a spark on the edge of highway 101 in petaluma spread into brush and ignited a row of eucalyptus trees. Two people were injured. Whats unique about what were seeing and we have seen this the last couple years, this fire is spreading very fast, very aggressively in almost the complete absence of wind.
