lead them to the killer. it s a full-court press. detectives out tonight going door to door, handing out flyers trying to collect more information, trying to identify a suspect. 17-year-old amber stanley had high grades. she had high hopes. that all came to a violent end last night, as she was gunned down in her sleep in the bedroom of her home here in kettering. apparently a suspect kicked the door in into the home, and fatally shot the 17-year-old female. reporter: police say there were other people any house at the time of the shooting. no one else was injured. neighbors s am berg s older a foster child lived there. they say amber s mother wasn t home at the time. shirley robinson lives next door. just last night to see the stress, to see the mother going through what she had to go through, i wouldn t wish that on anyone. so that s basically anyone she was an honors student. today at the school, a moment of silen silence, and grief counselors. she was a very affabl
they re going to take their time getting here. we ll have more in a minute. thank you, doug. a very large d.c. competitive community has been rocked by a sex abuse scandal. a woman who was involved in the scandal, who was 13 years old at the time is telling her story. it involves a prominent local swim coach. she told her story to jackie bensen. she joins us now with more. this story was first reported in the washington post. kelly curl r kelly currin believes a crime was covered up. my cry is just to, you know make one mother or father raise their eyebrow at a situation between the coach/athlete relationship. reporter: the website of the 950-member curl-burke swim club, with the coach who has coached dozens of swimmers to national and international levels. the club uses 11 d.c. area pools as training facilities. one of those swimmers was kelly davies, now kelly curren, living in texas. she began swimming when she was 9 years old. she says the abuse began when she
sandusky victimized. reporter: in the report louis freeh blast ed freeh roundly criticizes graham spanier, schultz, and hall of fame football coach joe paterno. he says that if any of them had acted, several children might not have become victims. they changed course after paterno was consulted, motivated by the desire to avoid bad publicity. what s significant and shocking is that the four of them, most powerful people in penn state university, made a decision to conceal this information. reporter: reaction to the revelations has swift and strong. this from an attorney representing one of the sandusky s victims. penn state needs to recognize that this report is a road map for the civil litigation, for the attorney general s future investigations, the department of justice, as well as the ncaa. reporter: in a statement paterno s family admitted the coach could have done more, but maintains he ner would knowingly cover up for a child predator. with the facts now ou
forecast. we ll tack about the fog. if your [ inaudible ] [ inaudible ] thank you for joining us i m kristen sze. i m eric thomas. richmond police are trying to solve a bizarre murder mystery. a 22-year-old man gunned down during a shootout that had nothing to do with him. amy hollyfield is live at the richmond police department. it appears the victim was heading to class at a local community college. reporter: yeah he was with his sister. this was about 7:00 last night they were headed to class at contra costa college when he was shot. he was the passenger in the car. his sister was driving. it appears that a man fired into their car for no reason at all. the killer was running after a car, he was shooting at it then he gave up as that car sped away then he looked up, saw the man and his sister sitting in their car and shot at them. the sister drove away trying to escape, get out of there it was too late for her brother he had been fatally hit he died at the scene.
