Cyber threats are top priority for the Intelligence Community. Attacks are increasing in scale, scope, and complexity and severity of impact. You are mostly there. Thats where i think people misunderstand within an agency, within a particular program, almost everybody has everything they need. The only thing they dont have is interoperable identifiers embedded. If every agency were to publish their, if you will, their keys, and then you compare their keys for what it means to another agencys keys for what it means, you can build a table for bringing them all together. Now, we do that every time we ask for a report that comes from ask for a report that comes from multiple agencies. This is her first visit with our group. We appreciate very much her making time in her schedule for this. Our guest was born in london, grew up in washington state, and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the university of washington. Right after graduation, she and her husband warren, a fellow engineer, started their career at mobil oil, then moved to commercial banking. She worked for 19 years. She joined the board of rei in 1996, became chief operating officer in 2000, and was named ceo in 2005. During her tenure at the company, rei tripled in size. Historically thats low in the United States. Thats kind of really retarding u. S. Growth. How are we why arent we growing faster in this kind of Data Revolution where we hear all these great things about data . Theres this big conundrum there. Maybe what it is we have all these businesses gathering all this information and they really havent yet materialized the benefits from all this data. But from a macro perspective thats a huge, huge question. So how much all this data stuff were talking about, how much can this improve the u. S. Economy, okay . So im just going to throw out a couple real rough numbers here. Theres lots of studies out there who always talk about trillions of dollars and billions of dollars and so on and so forth. I always find those numbers really hard to understand. So im an economist.

Working with many members who are sponsoring this wonderful weekend and other members of congress as well, weve promoted legislative proposals to resore the Voting Rights act to its full and proerp. Weve profoesed legislation that would expand access to polling places for those living on indian villages and other tribal lands. We cannot have a situation in this country where the original americans are kept out of the participation in the bounties of this land. We cannot have that. [ applause ] we do this also through our monitoring program, we monitor federal elections and weve actively enforced the National Voter registration act to protect those who are registering to vote, as well as the rights of our uniformed members of the military.
