Longtime Bent County resident, Thomas (Tom) Pointon, passed away on December 18, 2020, at the age of 90. Tom was born in Bent County as the youngest child of five, to James (Jim) Pointon and Amy Ham Pointon.
He graduated at the age of 16 from Bent County High School in 1947. After attending Colorado State University for one year, he was called home to help on the family ranch as his older brother had become ill. In November 1950 he joined the United States Navy and served until August of 1954 as a machinist’s mate second class. He married Laura Smith on March 28, 1954 in California and returned to farming and ranching in Bent County, Colorado where they raised five children for 23 years at which time, they parted ways.
