Glanbia Ireland announced its top grain growers for 2020 this week, with Laois farmer John C Fletcher taking the overall award.
John, from Portarlington, took the Supplier of the Year Award and was also the seed barley category champion.
Commenting on his overall win, John, who farms with his father, commented that rotation is key on his farm.
“We’re always trying to build fertility in the soil, as we’re in continuous tillage, he said.
“2020 wasn’t a great year, as drought got us very early on. Yields were poor and were down about 0.5t/ac on 2019 levels.
