This return to Tom & Mary Casey Stadium, it’s a visit that TD Ierlan is excited to make. “Definitely looking forward to this one a lot more than the last one,”…
The 11-city weekend tour will start in a familiar spot on June 4 Gillette Stadium with the championship game Sept. 19 at D.C. United’s Audi Field. The schedule includes some venues that are a nod to former MLL cities like Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Atlanta, and James M. Shuart Stadium on Long Island.
One new, oft-requested stop is Minneapolis, where the PLL will play at TCO Stadium From July 9-11.
The all-star game is July 18 at PayPal Park in San Jose, then the next stop is another new venue in Weidner Field in Colorado Springs. Other sites include Johns Hopkins’ Homewood Field, UAlbany’s Tom & Mary Casey Stadium, and quarterfinals at Rio Tinto Stadium in Salt Lake City and semifinals at Subaru Park, formerly known as Talen Energy Stadium near Philadelphia.

ALBANY The Premier Lacrosse League will be returning to Albany this summer by concluding its 2021 campaign.
The league announced Wednesday that it will play six games at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium the weekend of Aug. 13. It will be the second time the PLL has played at UAlbany. The league concluded its inaugural season in 2019 at Casey Stadium.
“In 2019, we closed our regular season at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium with postseason implications on the line,” PLL co-founder and CEO Mike Rabil said in a press release. “The fans showed up and created an amazing atmosphere -– which made the decision to return a no-brainer. This year’s event will have similar consequences as we wrap our regular season with three doubleheaders in Albany.”
Among the most important takeaways is how this schedule represents many distinct learnings in the league’s short history: the excitement of Year One, the refinement of Year Two (the unfulfilled schedule that was released on March 11 last year), the safety prioritization of the Championship Series (aka PLL Island) and the MLL merger last offseason.
In speaking with COO Andrew Sinnenberg, I began my line of questioning by asking “With so many priorities, how do you rank them?” He laughed before launching into an extended answer that he subsequently had to return to in order to address more priorities. In light of that, let’s lay out the list of considerations that likely most interest fans, and then tackle them one by one.
Despite Loss UAlbany Continues to Build FCS Power
Saturday’s loss to Maine, 38-34, was certainly disappointing for the Great Danes. UAlbany, ranked #13 in the national FCS polls, was coming off of an impressive win over then-ranked #14 New Hampshire. The Black Bears, on the other sideline, were licking their wounds after getting completely blown out by #19 Delaware, 37-0 last Saturday. Logic may have predicted a UAlbany victory in Orono. This is the fall season of 2020 being played in March of 2021. This is CAA (Colonial Athletic Conference) football. Throw in a seven and a half-hour team bus ride and all logic goes out the window.
