Springfield properties WORK has started on the first phase of homes for rent in Dalmarnock. Springfield Properties will build 114 homes for West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA) on site of the former goods yard opposite the train station. The site had lain vacant for approximately 60 years. The homes will be for social rental and mid-market rent - and range in size from one to five bedrooms. The developers have planning permission to build a total of 237 homes on the site and the company are in negotiations with another provider to deliver the remaining 123 homes. Tom Leggeat, Springfield’s Managing Director of Affordable Housing, said: “We’re excited to get started on this development and proud to be contributing to Dalmarnock’s regeneration. It’s an important programme that will stimulate growth in this area in the West of Scotland as well as provide much needed affordable housing in Glasgow.

The homes, built as part of an £18.2 million partnership with WSHA, will transform the former goods yard opposite the train station, a site that has lain vacant for about 60 years. Elgin-based Springfield is building social rented and mid-market rent homes which range in size from one to five bedrooms – the mid-market rent homes are the first of their type for WSHA. On completion, the development will feature open communal areas and flexible commercial spaces.
