‘The Book of Mormon’ turns 10

Can you believe that “The Book of Mormon” musical is 10 years old?
It’s true. It has been a decade since Elder Price (Andrew Rannells) first took to the Broadway stage to joyously sing about getting his own planet as his nerdy companion, Elder Cunningham (Josh Gad), lovingly lied his way to convert after convert in the jungles of Uganda.
Since its March 24, 2011, premiere at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre after some preview performances the bawdy but beloved musical went on to earn nine Tony Awards and pack playhouses across the globe, including in the heart of Mormonism, Salt Lake City.

SOUTHBURY – Patricia “Patty” Richards, 66, departed this life on Feb. 22, 2021, at The Watermark at East Hill. She was the beloved wife of Timothy (Tim) Richards, and the beloved mother of her daughters Jenna and Chelsea.
Patty was born in Webster City, Iowa, on Feb. 24, 1954, to the late James and Doris (Krueger) Laughlin. Patty was the choir accompanist and music director at Sacred Heart Church for the past 25 years, a role that brought her such joy and purpose.
Patty started her music ministry in Webster City, Iowa, at the young age of 16, a role she fit so perfectly. Patty shared her humble yet incredible talents in every aspect of her music ministry. This gift of love to her church, her parish and her community will forever remain in the hearts of all whose lives she touched.

He was a half-breed Vietnam vet who hated what war stood for in spite of adhering to a day-to-day doctrine of “Peace Through Pummeling.” And no one knew where he lived. What Jean fails to tell us is that Billy Jack, not Bruce Lee, deserves credit for introducing American audiences to the martial arts. And woe to those bad guys who refuse to vamoose the moment Billy begins removing his shoes.

MCC to kick off spring 2021 virtual ‘World of Music’ concert series
After a successful fall semester run, Middlesex Community College’s spring 2021 “A World of Music” will continue virtually throughout the semester.
Performances will be recorded live and then streamed online for audiences to watch for free. The concert series will kick off with a performance celebrating Black composers in honor of Black History Month.
