Ipswich dancer Jesse Baggett-Lahav is the latest dance talent to be snapped up by a national company following in the footsteps of other local stars such as Gary Avis, Helen Crawford and Vincent Redmon.
The 17 year old, Northgate High School student, who is also a member of DanceEast’s CAT scheme (Centre for Advanced Training), has just passed a challenging audition to be selected to join the National Youth Dance Company, based at Sadler’s Wells in London.

Even the most gifted psychics would have had a rotten time predicting the clusterfuck that was 2020. It was a year marked by chaos and uncertainty and the music industry felt it keenly.
Live music and tours disappeared, and are still largely off the table, leaving labels and promoters in a constant state of flux. World tours were cancelled, albums were shelved, and the year as we knew it was nothing like we envisaged.

Ipswich s DanceEast is to stage two digital performances for the festive season - after being determined to keep entertainment going during the Covid-19 crisis.
The pandemic has proved a huge stumbling block in commissioning new dance theatre.
Solstice is an interactive dance performance which people can access via a window display outside the DanceHouse on Ipswich Waterfront

However, DanceEast s chief executive and artistic director, Brendan Keaney, has organised two alternatives with the help of its new digital suite, for which it recently received a £60,000 grant.
