The city took the first steps towards building a new public safety complex at the intersection of Washington Street and New Washington Street in East Somerville at a community meeting on March 31.
“This project’s been abandoned for many years, and it’s time for us to get rolling on it,” City Council President Matt McLaughlin told attendees.
The building will be located on a roughly two-acre parcel that was once the Cobble Hill Shopping Center. The city seized the land through eminent domain in 2019 and demolished the buildings.
