BEND, Ore. Some days, a message is sent out on WhatsApp, alerting birders of a northern saw-whet owl, others it might be a message on the Central Oregon Birders Online website informing the close to 1,000 members on the site’s message boards about a swarm of purple finches and hermit thrushes taking over a birdbath.

researchers have found evidence of a brain disease linked to repeated concussions. they found this in 86 of the 90 brains from former nfl players. the disease is cte. it can only be diagnosed posthumously, after death. we have been talking about this with a former player. he is worried about what it would mean to him. tom crabtree, green bay packer tight end is joining us. as cristi mentioned, dom, 80 out of 96 players found to have the disease, chronic encephalopathy. we have been hearing a lot about the ct studies lately and

didn t have a whole lot to go on as far as hard numbers. when i saw those numbers, it was just really shocking. did made me take pause and kind of like i tweeted out yesterday, based on that study, there is a pretty good chance myself and a lot of other players walking around doing fine today have cte? i remember when i played, tom, i got a concussion and the strength coach got really mad at me when i told him i didn t feel well enough to get back on the field. i felt groggy. he was mad i said i wasn t able to get back out there. did you ever experience a concussion and also how were you treated and how did you respond when you had one? i think i was fortunate enough not to have many diagnosed. i had one in college that i missed some time for. kind of the same response from coaches and teammates.
