“It s the most surreal thing. There s this moment where you re sitting around a fire with an elf, a human wearing armor and a guy in Ranger-looking clothing and you re like, ‘This is the coolest thing in the world,’ ” actor David Mort said.
Alongside acting, Mort directed the coming “Gates of Avalore,” with the script written by wife Angele Mort and Will Brack. The director of photography, Damian Byington, shot over two days in March in Cottage Grove. With an early June release date, the 12-minute film captures the campfire squad coming in to save the day from an undead horde. Mort hopes this will be the opening scene for a feature-length film.
