COVENTRY â Authorities have identified the man who died after his car plunged into Coventry Lake Wednesday afternoon as Ellington resident Dieter Zumpe, 53.
According to state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection spokesman Will Healey, Zumpe was pulled from the lake shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday after being located by members of the State Police Dive Team.
After that, Zumpeâs car was also pulled from the lake near the boat launch where it had been submerged, Healey said.
Authorities were first notified of the incident around 12:15 p.m. when they received a 911 call about a car plunging into the lake off the boat launch, according to Healey.
