Okorocha is having a running battle with the Imo State Government over the ownership of the university.
The crisis had led to the closure of the institution by Okorocha, but Uzodimma had reversed the decision, saying that the university was licensed as the second university in the state.
Okorocha, on the other hand, is claiming that the university was established under a Public-Private Partnership between the state and Rochas Foundation, with the latter having 90 per cent and the former 10.
The appointment, according to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Bertrand Ikegwuoha, is with immediate effect.
Dozie is a professor of Microbiology at the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO).

According to the Imo State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Bernard Thompson O. Ikegwuoha, with the appointment of Prof Dozie, “the former Vice Chancellor, Prof Tola Badejo, has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.”
“This is sequel to the former Vice Chancellor’s unauthorised announcement, illegally suspending academic activities in the university for the 2020/2021 academic year.
“All students and staff of the University are consequently advised to disregard the unauthorised announcement of the former Vice Chancellor and return to normal academic and administrative life without delay,” Prof. Ikegwuoha added.

Academic activities have been suspended by the management of the Eastern Palm University Ogboko in Ideato South council area of Imo State following the ownership crisis between the Imo State Government and Senator Rochas Okorocha’s Rochas Foundation.
It would be recalled that a panel set up by then former Governor, Emeka Ihedioha recommended the university be taken over by the State Government.
The administration of Senator Hope Uzodimma, in accepting the recommendations of the panel, renamed the institution Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University.
Briefing journalists in Owerri, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Tola Badejo, on Wednesday, said the decision to suspend academic activities was to protect students and staff as well as properties of the institution.
A panel set up by then Governor Emeka Ihedioha had recommended that the University be taken over by the state government.
The present administration of Hope Uzodimma, in accepting the recommendations of the panel, renamed it Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University.
Okorocha had said that the university was established as a public private partnership (PPP) between the foundation and the state government.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Tola Badejo, who disclosed this in a press briefing in Owerri on Wednesday, said that students have been ordered to vacate the premises from Friday 30, April, pending the resolution of the present impasse between Rochas Foundation and Imo State Government.
