A Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo has awarded N5 million in damages against the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector General of Police over the assault of a woman, Tola Azeez, in Osun State.
A video of the officers assaulting the young lady went viral during the lockdown in April 2020.

Reactions have begun to trail the judgement of a Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo which awarded N5 million in damage against the Nigeria Police and the Inspector General of Police over the abuse of Tola Azeez in Iwo, Osun State.
In their reactions, Ayodeji Ologun, an Osun-based media consultant said the judgement came at a very critical time in the history of the country especially when states and the federal government are trying to review issues around police brutality.
He said the action of police officers involved in the brutalisation of Tola Azeez was condemnable considering also that they had been dismissed from the force.

The Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State Capital, on Monday, awarded the sum of N5million damages against the Nigerian Police Force and the Inspector General of Police for assaulting a middle-aged woman, Tola Azeez, in the state.
It will be recalled that two police officers, Ikuesan Taiwo, an inspector and Abass Ibrahim, a corporal went berserk in April 2020 and brutalised their victim in Odo-ori area of Iwo in the state while going to buy drugs at a pharmaceutical shop for a relation.

The woman was assaulted in April 2020 at Odo Ori Market in Iwo, Osun State, when she was trying to buy drugs for her relatives at a pharmacy.

The Federal High Court in Osogbo, Osun State, has awarded N5 million as aggravated and general damages against the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector General of Police over abuse of a woman in Osun State.
