This is compounded by COVID-19 interruptions in farming activities and gradual erosion of most farmers’ capital amid natural disasters of floods and droughts.

Nigeria and Russia have announced plans to strengthen trade ties, noting that the move will explore new investment opportunities that exist in both countries.
Although, the trade volume between Nigeria and Russia is still low, about less a billion dollars, both countries have reaffirmed commitment to boosting the trade volume significantly.
The Nigerian Ambassador to Russia, Prof Abdullahi Yibaikwal, at a webinar, tagged, “Exploring the vast opportunities of Nigerian and Russian markets”, said many Russian companies are open for investments into Nigeria’s telecommunications sector, energy, oil and gas, health care and other sectors of the economy. x

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has warned that the Nigerian Postal Services Bill 2021 as passed by the Senate is replete with provisions that would be detrimental to private sector investments in the courier industry.
President of the LCCI, Mrs. Toki Mabogunje, during the Chamber’s, “Address on the State of the Economy,” yesterday in Lagos, described the provisions of the bill as an impediment to sustainable investment in the courier industry.
The chamber’s concerns about the bill included the requirement in Section 68 (2) (b) that licensed private courier operators should contribute two per cent of their annual turnover to the Universal Postal Service fund.
