The Executive Director/ CEO, Nigeria Export Promotion Council, NEPC, Mr. Olusegun Awolowo, has commended the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mele Kyari, over his efforts in securing Nigeria’s first methanol processing plant following the signing of a final investment decision in January 2021.
Awolowo disclosed this on Wednesday when he hosted the NNPC boss at the Export House, in Abuja.
According to a statement from the NEPC, Awolowo stated that the project signifies the Federal Government’s effort to maximise value and monetise Nigerian vast natural gas endowment, having significant economic and development impact on the country including revenue generation and import substitution for the methanol needs of the country that is currently 100 per cent imported.

He said the private sector investment would be channeled through a programme known as ‘Project Bolt’ to speedily achieve the desired result. The consortium partners included, Zealhosts Consulting Services, Berwick Agro, ALTS Consulting, H2AFoods Nigeria, and U.S.-based food and agribusiness advisory service companies, Shine Bridge Global with the support of AfricaGlobal Schaffer.
Bello said the investors were delighted to have entered into a strategic Public Private Partnership with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
