Zanesville council committee discusses contractor registration
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville City Council Code Enforcement Committee on Monday heard an update on an effort to craft a home improvement contractor registration program. The city’s new chief building official, Todd Slaboden, says he hopes to have the legislation crafted and the program in place later this year.
Committee Chairman Rob Sharrer says he contacted four home improvement contractors to discuss the proposed program, and none of them were concerned about it. Slaboden says the program is designed to protect the homeowner, and the contractor doing the work. Exemptions to the program would include work being down by the homeowner and small projects.
