MARSHALL - On Johnny Casey s resume, he listed his role as education reporter. But dig a little deeper, and you ll find he covered much more than that.
Not only did Casey cover education as his main beat at the Morganton News Herald, he also wrote about a wide range of topics, from breaking news to sports and everything in between.
Casey will be able to put that versatility to use in his new role as Madison County community reporter for The News-Record & Sentinel. First let me say thank you for taking me in as one of your own, Casey said last week after leaving the Burke County daily publication for the NRS. I haven’t even spent a full week here yet, but I can already see and feel the spirit and the commitment to serving others that runs deep within the residents of this rich and storied county. I called my parents and told them that I’ve never met a community of people who are more warm and welcoming than the good people of Madison County.
