Todd Fiscal Court approves road measures, will hear first reading of budget May 14

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio May 4, 2021 | 9:48 AM Work on much-needed drainage improvements on Davis Mill Road will soon begin after Todd Fiscal Court approved a resolution during a special-called meeting Tuesday morning. Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield says he’s been assured by the state that Todd County can proceed with drainage work at the bridge near Trenton on Davis Mill and already promised state funds will come in as reimbursement after July 1. Total cost of that project is $19,518. Flooding on February 28 washed out a section of Jones Road and Judge Mansfield says the state has agreed to pay half of the costs to make those repairs.

Todd Co Jail to charge daily fees for county inmates

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Apr 23, 2021 10:54 AM County inmates in the Todd County Jail will soon be required to pay a fee for each day they are incarcerated after a policy change approved Friday morning by Todd Fiscal Court. Kentucky law allows jails to have a policy that charges a per-day fee and Jailer Jeff Penick recently approached fiscal court about pursuing those funds. He conferred with Todd County Attorney Jeff Traughber and he presented the fee schedule including $30 per day for those county inmates.

Todd Fiscal Court hears updates on road projects, bringing back inmate work crews

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Apr 9, 2021 11:11 AM Todd Fiscal Court on Friday morning heard an update on state road projects and learned about efforts to bring back jail inmate work crews to the community to pick up litter and other duties. Lucas Gilliam with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says they’re using funds from last year’s budget to soon begin repaving work on US 79 from the railroad crossing to KY 848 improvements that will be welcomed by those working and transporting goods to and from Novelis. Chief Engineer Joe Plunk says the contracts have to be signed by the summer of next year for replacements of the four bridges along US 79 between Tennessee and Russellville. Those replacements are funded by a federal BUILD grant that will pay for widening of 79 for trucks servicing Novelis and Logan Aluminum.
