Landon Donley has been a fixture at the Polk County Youth Fair for the past several years so the community thought the best way to remember him, and raise money for the family, would be to increase the bid for his prized cow to a record price.
Todd Donley was a 17-year-old with dreams of heading to Ole Miss and joining their baseball team. His life was cut short after a crash, which occurred weeks before the Polk County Youth Fair. His loved ones entered his steer into the annual auction, and the community turned it into a fundraiser for the family.
Steers at the Polk Youth Fair usually fetch $1.50 to $2.50 per pound. But a steer raised by a teen who was killed in a crash is fetching $30 per pound.
