MEERUT: Sana Khan was just 20 when she came up with the idea of making organic manure. It was 2014. Her peers at the college where she was pursuing the degree course in biotechnology were perplexed, and so were her parents. Her father, a tailor, had supported Sana in her efforts. Cut to 2021.

MUZAFFARNAGAR: A court in UP’s Muzaffarnagar has sentenced a woman, 30, to undergo two days of imprisonment for indulging in an obscene act in a public place over four years ago. The woman and her four friends were booked under Section 294 of IPC (obscene act in any public place) on September 26, 2016 after they were found touching each other inappropriately in the city’s New Mandi area.
They were later released on bail. The quantum of sentence against the four others two women and two men is yet to be announced as their case is being heard separately. A fine of Rs 5,000 was also slapped on the woman by the additional chief judicial magistrate court (ACJM).
