NEW LONDON NOTES: Nestor gives Memorial Day address

Mother Nature smiled on the village’s Memorial Day activities that began at the Legion Hall and ended in Memorial Park.
American Legion 292 Commander Dave Smith welcomed the crowd to the ceremony and said, “Today, we meet to honor those who did so much to keep us free.” He then introduced Kevin Nestor who gave the day’s address.
A 1975 New London High School and 1979 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Nestor served in the Army, the Ohio Army National Guard and the Army Reserve.
“This valuable partnership with Notre Dame is another positive step on our journey to creating a cleaner, brighter energy future with our communities,” said Lisa Barton, executive vice president and chief operating officer, AEP. “AEP recently announced our commitment to reach net zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050. Projects like the St. Joseph Solar Farm help us deliver the reliable and affordable energy our customers expect.”

The St. Joseph Solar Farm is the largest solar endeavor for Notre Dame, which collaborated on the large-scale project.

2020 Grants Include $750,000+ for Pandemic Relief
Fort Wayne, IN – Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) demonstrated its commitment to the people and communities it serves by donating $1.4 million in support of charitable non-profits and economic development initiatives in 2020. In addition, the American Electric Power Foundation awarded more than $2.7 million to area non-profits on behalf of I&M.
