Summary
Fact. Uganda has the third highest deaths from malaria in Africa and some of the highest recorded malaria transmission rates in the continent, particularly in the areas around Lake Kyoga in central Uganda.

Malaria has been the leading cause of death in Gulu District in the past one year, a report has revealed .
The report released by the district health department shows that a total of 1,229 medical fatalities were registered of which 105 were caused by malaria, 82 by anaemia, pneumonia (80), and respiratory distress (71).

Summary
International Criminal Court (ICC) sentenced Dominic Ongwen, a Ugandan child soldier who became a commander of the notorious Lord s Resistance Army (LRA), to 25 years in jail for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Dominiuc Ongwen, 45, was found guilty in February of 61 charges including murders, rapes and sexual enslavement during a reign of terror in the early 2000s by the LRA, led by the fugitive Joseph Kony.

2,143: According to the Health ministry, there are a total of 2,143 children affected by the epidemic in Northern Uganda with Pader District having 806, Kitgum 544, Lamwo 339, Gulu 58, and Lira with 13 cases.
The patients are unable to defend themselves due to their condition.

At least 144 girls suffering from Nodding Syndrome are allegedly being taken advantage of, and sexually abused.
Information this newspaper has accessed indicates that the girls have given birth to 203 children after they fell victim to defilement, rape, and other forms of sexual harassment in Kitgum District since 2015.
