The CFL’s own schedule has their first game in Alberta as early as May 23, with the BC Lions playing the Calgary Stampeders. Before this game can even take place there are three reasonable things that must happen. First, the players have to report to training camp. Second, the American players have to cross the border into Canada and go through their quarantine period. Third, all CFL players who did not play professional football in 2020 or to date in 2021 have to give fair termination notice to their interim employers. Despite having no CFL games in 2020 and the CFL administration having over an entire year to plan a “Return-To-Play Critical Path,” it seems the CFL has again let the clock run out on another season with no guidance to what the CFL players should do regarding their employment or an announcement on a “bubble strategy” for the beginning of the season.
