all right, 35 past the hour. a look now at headlines in the morning papers across the country. first to oklahoma. where the tulsa world reports the republican led state house and senate have passed new anti-abortion bills. the house legislation bans the procedure after about six weeks of pregnancy. that bill now heads to the desk of republican governor kevin stit who is expected to sign it into law within days. the arizona republic featured a front page report on schools in the state trying to fight learning loss from the pandemic. the decrease in enrollment and increases in chronic absentee rates have resulted in significant losses in learning for all students and has exacerbated an achievement gap along latinos.
wildfire warnings continue. 13 active wildfires and 66,000 acres burned and fire weather outlook continue for parts of the southwest to the texas panhandle and toward oklahoma and that is ongoing because we have a drought situation that expands for the west into the plane states. wildfire danger continues. we have a front marching through the mississippi river valley and central u.s. behind it, colder than average temperatures for northern planes and midwest stretching to the great lakes. we have active storms pushing toward the plane states and great lakes and severe thunderstorm warnings in effect for south texas in toward parts of arkansas, where we have heavy flooding going on. flash flood watches and warnings posted throughout the day and
watches from texas to oklahoma toward arkansas and missouri today. there is your severe storm threat, risk for flooding and hail, damaging winds, isolated tornados which will march across the great lakes and down toward the gulf coast toward the mid-atlantic and noerlth east tuesday and wednesday. we ll continue to monitor all of the above. all in all, not too bad. we have severe storms and wildfire danger, i don t have severe tornados this week. carley: good news. joey: welcome to spring, i guess. janice: cool in the northeast. carley: thanks. good to see you. switching gears, fbi director wray sounding alarm on police across the country. violence against law enforcement in this country is one of the biggest phenomenas
trial for a month and it was very hard. in their horrific stories and even people who describe themselves as pro-choice are not for the kind of things. it will stop and say completely and disavow what was happening. if it s happening in d.c., even those folks would want to know. medical examiners seen or not investigating this, but will it continue to watch that. in the meantime, waiting for the addition for the supreme court, states are going full board this i think they re going to legalize abortion more broadly or they are going to really scale it back because we are waiting to see what the supreme court s going to do. from colorado to oklahoma, kentucky, florida, a lot of new things out there and they say they are very worried about access to abortion going forward. the conservative makeup saying they re going to strip the women of the ability to decide their own fate. first as were talking about what happened in the district of columbia, recognize that seven states have no limit
abortion. it you can legally do an abortion up until birth. that s the current state of affairs and plus current law because of the current case they will not prohibit abortion. defined around 24 weeks. we very much are working and praying that the supreme court overturns roe v. wade and throws it back to the state. if that happens somewhere around 21 states have trigger laws that will make abortion much more prohibited with some exceptions and in many cases that every day you see states like today, kentucky and other states, oklahoma that are putting in place laws and getting ready for the fact that roe v. wade may be overturned or changed. we re praying that happens. shannon: we will see you, we were going to get opinions from the supreme court. it penny nance, think you were stepping into nine.
