president obama and hillary clinton. he did that last night. he also, again, mocked george h.w. bush, somebody who just lost his wife who has had health difficulties, in and out of the hospital, about his thousand points of light. he went after, again, a republican senator named john mccain, genuine war hero. who is fighting brain cancer. and he jokes, josh, about the me too movement. a man who is on tape talking about sexually assaulting women. uh-huh, well, i think when the president sort of relives the greatest hits of the 2016 campaign. offend people over and over and people will say, oh, well, this is the end, this is the thing he did that people can t possibly stand. he lost the popular vote nationally. he won a very solid victory in montana and some of these other interior states in the great plains and upper midwest. these are places where donald trump can go and say people love my shtick. in terms of his pitch about why not vote for jon tester, i think

you can look at this in almost three ways. he was in montana. a rally for his own re-election campaign. there s an important senate race there with the democrat up for re-election. it s one place where republicans think they might be able to flip a seat. so that brought him to montana. at the same time, some of the old greatest hits with the election of 2016 and hillary clinton. then we saw the president also talking about the latest and greatest issues that he is facing. including a second vacancy on the supreme court. also the meeting with vladimir putin coming up in just over a week. he talked about these things in a way that is at times really meant for the audience to be in the moment. it doesn t have a statesman quality for sure. but he s also hitting the targets that have hit him politically. elizabeth warren, the senator who has been critical of late on many policies, attacking the
