we re just 16 days out from the midterm elections. as campaign 22 is hitting the homestretch, democrats are also facing economic head winds i am worried about the level of voter turnout. democrats have to contrast their economic plan with the republicans. elections are about the future. they re about the economy. nobody said we re doing abortion rather than economy. it s about both. how much is the economy and the rising prices going to impact your vote in november? it has a lot to do with it because our economy has got out of control. the cost of living is so high. that is the biggest impact. everything is higher. rent, gas, food, all of it is inflated. i m pamela brown. you are live in the cnn newsroom on this sunday. just 16 days from now americans will cast ballots in midterm elections becoming more about the economy with each passing day. house and senate control are at stake as americans deal with higher inflation and fears of a looming recession. polls
democrats, the party in power. i spent the last week in my beloved home state of kentucky talking to a wide spectrum of voters from rural areas that tend to be reliably red to lexington, which is a more blue pocket of the blue grass state. here is some of what they told me about how issues like the economy factor into their own vote and the vote of folks in their circles. the inflation, looking to try to get somebody in there to bring costs back down for people can live again. reporter: so the cost of living is so high. exactly. that is the biggest impact. everything is higher. you know, rent, you know, gas, food, all of it s inflated. reporter: yeah. how has that affected your life? it s affected our budget things, you know, budget is a big part of everybody s life. you got to be able to plan your finances properly. if not you have to make cutbacks, adjustments. gas, stop in to get food, grocery shopping.
this huge one. we have seen the incredible images and the water and boulders. they are dry again and no rainstorms headed that way. they have time to clean up. how long do they need to clean up? two feet of mud in your home, i can t imagine where you start. let s get to that storm. it moved across the country. it s redeveloped into a winter storm. what makes it a difficult forecast is areas are going from very warm to very cold in about four hours. we call it a flash freeze. that s happening now. indianapolis dropped to 25 degrees. it s not that long of a drive to lexington, which is 58. you get the rain, everything is melting, then the flash freeze coming in. in some cases, you get snow and ice with it. you get everything. we have the green, which is the rain. steady rain in washington, d.c. it s been pouring overnight. then as we go where the arctic front is, we get the rain. the pink is freezing rain.
standstill. as people are honking their horns they re saying no, we re not having this. some of the things we ve seen signs they say now human is illegal. you re seeing the amalgamation of protesters who are saying we re fighting for people to feel included. they re sending a message to those recently confirmed cabinet members. if they see terms of sievicivic rights infractions they want to show how quickly people can come together. i was saying yesterday, you can picture a new york city street on a typical afternoon. there were, you know, cab and people were honking and cursing, they were upset because traffic couldn t get through. have they shut down the street there? obviously, there s so much traffic in new york city. what s the deal? reporter: the streets have been completely shut down. interesting thing is not only on second avenue, down to third down to lexington. that s where we re seeing, just the number of people. this is more than they expected. we haven t gotten a fin
enough to make you uncomfortable driving out there to school or work. we re looking at a beautiful weekend shaping up. the only other troublesome thing we have for you as you head out the door in the east is dense fog from jackson, mississippi to lexington. airport problems will be because of snow in denver early and fog there in nashville to lexington, houston and new orleans chance of storms. as far as the weekend forecast goes beautiful in the east coast. few showers around d.c. but a very warm saturday. only troublesome weather over the weekend is the great lakes with showers and storms. sunday, beautiful l for people who want to get out there and enjoy the leaves. from smokeys beautiful. great sunday too. not a horrible saturday. you re watching morning joe on this friday.
