Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Juneau Assembly has several matters up for public hearing and action during its regular meeting Monday evening.
An appropriation ordinance earmarks an additional $700,00 for the emergency individual assistance grant program. The current $2 Million appropriation is estimated to provide grants for 1,070 applicants. About 1,800 applicants remain. The $700,000 would provide awards to about 348 of them.
A companion ordinance takes $700,000 from an earlier appropriation for the hospital to purchase COVID-19 testing equipment. CARES Act funding in either case. This change would allow the funds to come from the hospital s appropriation rather than the city and borough s funds.
A related resolution directs that the $700,000 go lower income residents and exclude those who received housing assistance grants.
