we ve been talking all hour about lester holt s exclusive interview with president trump coming up on nbc nightly news. time magazine revealing their new cover story. nearly 100 minute wide-ranging interview with president trump, with donald trump weighing in on everything from what s on his tivo to the meal they enjoyed together. we have so lucky that joining us now to discuss this interview is zeke miller, white house correspondent at time magazine. zeke, thank you so much for being with us. thanks for having me. this was extraordinary and my favorite parts are the lighter humanizing moments. i want to start on a more serious note. it s the same question i put to lester holt. this president seems very proud of the relationships he s built on the foreign stage. on the world stage. and he says at one point the world used to laugh at us but they re not laughing now. does that seem ironic in the wake of the kind of weak he s
he watches tv. he actually has had dvr recordings of these russia hearings. time magazine has where trump is in a study and a 60 inch flat screen tv and he has a dvr recording of the sally yates testimony that he was watching. he was very preoccupied with the russia questions and very bothered by it and feels like it s infringing on his presidency. praises tivo as one of the great inventions, phil. i tivo all of your appearances. thank you, sir. i will see you back at the white house. i want to go to one of my colleagues pete williams in our washington bureau with some new reporting. pete, we touched on this a little bit with phil there. the post saying resign. that s not true. he didn t threaten to resign. they simply say that report is erroneous. this is the second time the
set your tivo if you haven t already. that s the reason that the president is trying to you, you know, put in in the most explicitly political lens that he can before the hearing begins. he wants everybody tuning in to realize this is an obama appoint appointee, became a little bit of a hey radio to left when she refused to execute his order on immigration. it s fascinating. this has the potential to do damage in the administration, at least in the news cycle. but it has the potential to be a star turn for sally yates. and i think the left is every bit as glued into this as the right is. something we hope to get more information on today is whether mikchael flynn was freelancing when he talked with russian ambassador or doing so at the direction of president trump. talk about the distinction. it s great distinction. he ctainly would be expected to deal with foreign leaders,
