  May 31, 1932 - January 12, 2024   A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Titonka. The funeral service will be live streamed on Oakcrest Funeral Services’ Facebook page. Burial will be held in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20 and will continue until the time of service.

  August 29, 1932 - November 10, 2023   Dolores Elaine (Christian) Fox, age 91 of Titonka, passed away on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at the Titonka Care Center surrounded by her five children. Dolores was born Aug. 29, 1932, in Mason City, daughter of Melvin and Olga (Handeland) Christian. She was baptized on Nov. 6, 1932, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City. Dolores was confirmed on July 27, 1947, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of rural Gruver.

Kossuth COVID hospitalizations, positives decline; local Test Iowa hours are reduced

  One more Kossuth County resident has died from COVID-19, pushing hte total to 45. As of Friday, there had been 6,927 tests; 1,839 positive tests; and 1,540 recoveries. Friday s positivity rate is 19.1 percent, just above Shelby County for highest in Iowa.    KOSSUTH COUNTY COVID-19 UPDATE: Thursday, Jan. 28, 11 a.m.: In late November and early December, the positivity rate of those tested for COVID-19 in Kossuth County was the highest in the state, topping out at more than 30 percent over a two-week period, meaning during that time, 3 in 10 people who were tested were discovered to be positive for the virus. The positivity rate declined to less than 12 percent in early January, but it bounced back to 26 percent as of Jan. 18, when it became the highest in the state. As of Jan. 28, it remains the highest in the state at 19.3 percent.
