COIMBATORE: A four-member gang that stole an automated teller machine (ATM) of Bank of Baroda from near Uthukuli in Tirupur district in the early hours of Sunday abandoned it at Velliyampalayam in Erode district after taking cash from it. The damaged ATM was found on Monday. The gang removed the ATM containing Rs 1,00,100 by pulling it with a sport utility vehicle (SUV) after connecting both with a crane belt. They escaped with the ATM. A CCTV camera recoded the act.
The gang abandoned the SUV near Perundurai in Erode district and shifted the ATM to another vehicle. They brought the machine to a vacant land at Velliyampalayam where they broke it open with a gas cutter and took away the cash in it. The gang then consumed liquor and later left the ATM there.

Chennai: Suffering losses in online gaming has claimed the life of a 29-year old man in Tirupur district in Tamil Nadu, the police said on Saturday.
According to the police in Tirupur district, S. Elvin from Coimbatore had committed suicide two days back by jumping before a train after suffering losses to the tune of about Rs 7 lakh in online gaming.
The deceased was identified on Friday.
An employee with a private company, Elvin had borrowed money from several persons and lost the same in online gaming. He was not able to repay the borrowed money.
