Rose, Center for Biological Diversity, (408) 497-7675, jrose@biologicaldiversity.org Appeal Targets U.S. Wildlife Agency’s Refusal to Consider California Condor’s Significance to Tribal Groups in Approving Luxury Resort LOS ANGELES Conservation and tribal groups today appealed a recent court ruling that the California condor doesn’t qualify as a traditional Native American cultural property under federal law. The federal court concluded in December that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service did not violate the National Historic Preservation Act when it approved an 8,817-acre luxury resort and golf course on critical habitat for the California condor.
