A sell-out fashion show was planned for earlier this year. As final rehearsals were taking place in Bar 74, the news came that the country would be going into the first Covid-19 lockdown. The event was cancelled but £800 in ticket money was donated by generous customers instead.
The Wight Brainy Bunch was founded by Ryde Firefighter Mark Grimes and his wife Kathryn, following Marks own diagnosis of a brain tumour in 2015. Sheila Wilson, owner of Sugar & Spice Lingerie, said: “I know from personal experience of close friends how valuable this charity is.” Tina Lettington, owner of Bellissima, said: “We were sorry the fashion show couldn’t go ahead, but at least we have helped this great charity.
