Vanessa it happened yesterday around 8 00, on valentines day. Its in the 100 block of north lucas avenue. Its kind of an industrial area, there are some older buildings and some that arent occupied. The one we are seeing that we do believe may be it happened here, but we have not had it confirmed from authorities that happen, theres an apartment complex over here. What happened was, authorities found both the victim and the suspect had gunshot wounds. Both the victim and suspect were transported to area hospitals, and then Center Des Moines hospitals. Unsure about a possible suspect in the incident. Des Moines Police tell us they interviewed the victim identified as Dustin Curtis while he was being treated at iowa methodist. Curtis told police that he heard a small pop while getting cigarettes from his car. He said he later discovered a small wound to his stomach and was taken to the emergency room. However, police say there are inconsistencies in curtis story as well as that of a witness. Right now they are trying to , determine if the wound may have somehow been self inflicted perhaps by accident. , curtis under went surgery. His condition is not known at this time.
