IT has been another successful year for children at Moorfield School and Nursery in Ilkley. Year 6 pupils will be moving on to their first choice of senior school in September, including those applying to the local state grammar schools. This year passes at senior schools have included Ermysteds, Skipton Girls’ High School, Bradford Grammar School, Harrogate Ladies’ College, Ashville College and North Halifax Grammar School. Head of Moorfield, Mrs Tina Herbert, said: “We don’t take Key Stage 2 SATS at Moorfield and this releases valuable time to extend teaching and learning beyond the standard curriculum, enabling us to offer our children as many experiences in the final six months as possible.
MOORFIELD School in Ilkley rising to the challenge of lockdown. The nursery is open as usual and they have welcomed all other year groups back via remote lessons. Live lessons throughout the day are supported with ‘drop in’ sessions where children have access to their teacher during independent task time. Marking, assessment and feedback are all part of the normal day. Children are also enjoying live baking sessions, PE lessons led by head of sport, music and art lessons and philosophy. They also have weekly choir lessons delivered by the resident choir masters and music teachers. Head teacher Mrs Tina Herbert said: “All the families are doing so well with their remote learning, always joining the live lessons with positivity and enthusiasm.
