A GROUP of volunteers has come together to restore a Radcliffe landmark. Headed up by Eric and Tracy Owen of Little Britain Anglers alongside Radcliffe Litter Pickers and using a grant from the Bury Community Fund, work has been taking place to spruce up the model of a canal barge on Water Street. The barge reflects Radcliffe’s heritage as a major stop on the The Manchester Bolton and Bury Canal, which is now culverted under Water Street. “It has been repainted and flowers have been planted,” said Gill Smith, of Radcliffe Litter Pickers. “ A bridge has also been added so it looks like the barge is coming out of a tunnel.”
Landmark barge feature in Radcliffe is shipshape once again

Wilmslow-based visual effects studio Stonesoup VFX has created visuals for new Netflix show The Lost Pirate Kingdom which is released today.
As well as producing full CGI environments, the company helped to create a production workflow for the six-part series which favoured CGI projections at the back of the set over traditional green screen technology. The directors and DOPs loved being able to move the camera wherever they wanted on set. Getting instant visual feedback that the CGI back projections provided proved invaluable! said JP Hersey, Director of Stonesoup.
Director Sean Cosgrave added: “We were also able to make tweaks to the CGI backdrops on set, sometimes creating entirely new backdrops in a matter of minutes, allowing the directors even more freedom and flexibility than they would usually experience on a traditional VFX shoot.”

Colin Harrison of Trinity Green food bank collects the donations with staff members Claire Hill and Christine Whittake A FOODBANK which was burgled earlier this month has received some much needed festive cheer after a huge donation of toys and treats. Thieves targeted Trinity Food Bank in Radcliffe stealing hundreds of pounds worth of donations to support vulnerable families through these challenging times. Now the donation will ensure more families can enjoy a happy Christmas. Staff and residents at a Bury Council run extra care scheme, which provides support for residents who need assistance, donated items they collect every year for charity to the foodbank, after reading about the theft.
