At their last meeting of the year last week, Roanoke School Board approved a bid for roofing projects at Handley High and Knight-Enloe Elementary schools.
The board received six bids on the project and accepted the bid from Alabama Roofing in Anniston in the amount of $495,000. The work will begin as soon as possible and will be completed soon, weather permitting. Superintendent Chuck Marcum said the projects are being paid for out of the state bond money approved this year.

The past few years, the Alabama High School Athletic Association has had four honorary captains from each participating school to go on the field for the coin toss. Handley decided in 2016 and 2020 to have one teacher to represent KES, one to represent Handley Middle School and two to represent HHS. At the game, Donna Nolan (KES), Mandy Greer (HMS) and Leslie Sieffert and Coach Courtney Strain Screws (HHS) were the captains. These four educators were great representatives for their coll
