Alleged assault: Senate Committee gives CCT boss 2 weeks to defend himself

The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, on Tuesday, gave the Chairman, Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) Mr Danladi Umar, two weeks to defend a petition against him.
The Chairman of the Committee, Sen. Ayo Akinyelure, issued the directive when Umar appeared before the committee on Tuesday in Abuja to answer allegations of assault by a security guard, Mr Clement Sagwak.
Sagwak, a security guard had through his Counsel, Timzing Ramnap, petitioned the Senate, accusing Umar of alleged assault.
NAN reports that Sagwak, 22, and an employee of Jul Reliable Guards Services Limited, told the Senate in his petition that he was assaulted by Umar and a policeman attached to him after he informed him (Umar) that his car was not properly parked.

Assault: CCT chairman appears before Senate panel
PREMIUM TIMES reported how the CCT boss was caught on camera physically assaulting Mr Sargwak, at Banex Plaza, Wuse 2, Abuja.

This was in response to a petition submitted against him by Clement Sagwak, a security guard he assaulted.
Mr Sagwak had, through his counsel, Timzing Ramnap, petitioned the Senate where he accused Mr Umar of assaulting him.
The senator representing Plateau North, Istifanus Gyang, laid the petition before the Senate on April 29.
Mr Umar was summoned by the panel and asked to come to defend himself.

Istifanus Gyang, laid the petition before the Senate on April 29. Umar, who appeared before the committee asked the panel to give him one week to study the detailed petition which was served on him at the session to enable him respond appropriately.

Umar appeared before the senate panel on Tuesday following a petition presented by Istifanus Gyang, senator representing Plateau north.
He was caught
He was seen kicking the guard, who had
also told TheCable that he allegedly threatened to jail him.

“He (Umar) said he is going to jail me; that he has jailed lots of people and they cannot come out unless he says so. He said he is the one that is fighting Saraki (Bukola Saraki, former senate president) and many people,” Sagwak had said.
After the incident, Timzing Ramnap, counsel to the security guard, petitioned the senate through Gyang, urging the red chamber to probe the matter.
