SPRINGFIELD The owners of the former Mount Tom quarry are asking a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge to toss out a 2002 agreement that gives the state an option to claim the property. Popular Searches Attorney Jonathan R. Goldsmith, representing Mt. Tom Companies LLC and its two principal owners Matthew L. Donohue and Timothy P. Kennedy, told the court during a hearing Friday he intends to file motions asking that the agreement be voided because it is not contained in the deed on file with the Hampden County Registry of Deeds.

Whose mountain is it?: State stakes claim on old Mount Tom quarry as owners seek bankruptcy protection Today 5:00 AM Facebook Share HOLYOKE The state is moving to claim ownership of the former Mount Tom quarry to stop the current owners from converting the 16-acre site into a clean-fill operation in which truckloads of soil would be dumped in the massive crater on the side of the mountain over the next 20 years. Officials with the state Department of Conservation and Recreation are laying claim to the title for the quarry parcel under terms of the state’s 2002 purchase of 144.7 acres of the former Mount Tom Ski Area for $1.3 million. They want to see the land preserved in its natural state and protected for future use for outdoor recreation.

December 15, 2020 Timothy P. Kennedy, 79, of Rehoboth Beach passed away at Select Specialty Hospital of Wilmington Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020.  He was born to Thomas J. and Helen (McKeon) Kennedy May 5, 1941, in Holyoke, Mass. Tim graduated from South Hadley Falls High School in 1959 and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in New Haven, Conn., in 1964. He married J. Elaine (Grady) Kennedy Aug. 29, 1964. Tim worked as executive chef at many resorts and restaurants along the East Coast, settling in Delaware. Culinary arts was his passion, and he wanted to show his love to a new generation. This led him to teach culinary arts at Bancroft Middle School and Howard Career Center for 27 years. While teaching school, he also ran a successful catering business for over 15 years. Tim received many awards and accolades in his years teaching and retired to the beach in 2001.
