The prosecution rested its case against Ghislaine Maxwell as a fourth and final accuser testified Friday that the British socialite touched her breasts during a naked massage when she was 16 years old.
The bottom line stunned the Hodgkinson-targeted lawmakers assembled in the U.S. Capitol visitors center.
Mr. Hodgkinson was committing “suicide by cop,” the FBI briefer said. In essence, the bureau had relegated the near-mass killings aimed at Washington’s legislative branch to a self-centered personal decision by a leftist activist from Illinois.
“What are you talking about?” Rep. Brad Wenstrup, Ohio Republican, recalls asking the briefer.
“I said ‘if you want to do suicide-by-cop, just pull a gun on the cop,’” he told The Washington Times in an interview. “‘Where are you getting this?’ They just kind of stood by it. We were pretty dismayed.”
Faculty at Texas A&M hold positions of power over their peers and students, so you would think the university would want to know any information about prospective instructors and how they treat their peers and subordinates. However, while Title IX compels universities to investigate sexual harassment claims, they are not required to disclose findings to future employers â or to seek them out. While some universities may be aware of a candidateâs misconduct, many have no idea prospective employees have been accused of any wrongdoing.
A significant problem is that universities donât communicate with one another about professors accused of misconduct. Schools looking to hire a new faculty member often donât ask former employers about any Title IX investigations for sexual harassment.
