NORTHUMBERLAND — Four council members were sworn in by Northumberland Borough Mayor Dan Berard at Tuesday night’s council meeting. All will serve four-year terms.
Mercer Island’s Covenant Living at the Shores held its 10th annual Martin Luther King Jr. observance on Jan. 16. Residents listened to guest speaker Reverend Dr. Patricia Hunter as she presented a keynote address titled “Bending Toward Justice.” Dr. Hunter is the interim pastor at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Seattle. The Spirit of MLK Award was presented to Lawrence White, director of facilities management on campus. A framed personalized print by calligrapher Timothy Botts was presented to White by the Diversity Awareness Partners (DAP), a resident-run organization at the senior living community, to express appreciation for the way he lives out the values of Dr. King’s vision. The MLK observance is sponsored by the DAP each year. Photos courtesy of Covenant Living at the Shores
